ABOUT RONIA.

Ronia Topalidou was born in Thessaloniki in 1989 and grew up in Katerini, where she lived until she was 18 years old. She has studied at the Department of History and Archeology of the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki, at the Department of Classical Singing of the University of Music and performing arts in Vienna (class of Gabriele Lechner) and Management / Business Administration in Cologne.

Her love for music and her talent for singing were evident from an early age, so at the age of 11 she started taking classical guitar lessons and a year later she began lessons in classical singing. She holds a diploma in advanced theory, harmony and counterpoint. During her studies she performed works by Mozart, Haydn, Schumann, Schubert, Verdi, Puccini, Delibes, Handel, Bizet, Bellini, Bach and others.

At the beginning of her soloist career she performed the role of Filia from Carissimi's oratorio "Historia d' Jephte" under the direction and instruction of conductor Efthymios Mavridis. At the same time she performed works by the composer Navarozidis Haralambos. He has taken part as a soloist in concerts presented at the Olympus Festival, performing great works by Greek composers such as Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Hadjinasios, Xarchakos, Leontis, Markopoulos, Plessa, etc.

As a result, her musical concerns led her to the need for artistic expression through other genres of music, such as jazz, Roma music, Latin, etc. The last years she lives in Cologne. Living away from her homeland, she discovered her love and interest in rebetiko singing and the Greek musical tradition. Since then she has been participating as a main singer in the music group Rebetikon.

At the same time she takes part in concerts in various festivals as a soloist, performing Greek and international repertoire (fado, french chansons, Italian cantzonettas, tango, etc.).
